Application Level Notes:
Using your own tent – You may use your own tent. Due to the Pittsburgh fire safety code, we request that you submit a copy of the fire rating with your application to verify it is up to Pittsburgh standards. If you have used your tent at the Three Rivers Arts festival, you may submit proof of that as your fire rating, if you are using the same tent. All tents must be a maximum of 10ft x 10ft due to Pittsburgh rules or festival tents and spacing at SSW. Please understand that you are responsible for securing your tent for possible high winds (as you are responsible for any damages your tent causes if it is not secured for high winds). A minimum of 100 – 200 lbs weight on each corner of your tent is recommended. If there are barrels already near your tent, you may secure to those. Setting up your tent (not full displays) at the time the rental agency sets up the other tents is required if your are using your own tent, unless other arrangements are made. This is to insure correct spacing for all artists.

Provided Tents – unless you requests to use your own tent, all levels include a city approved 10ft x 10ft tent. We provide the enclosure tarps for bad weather, but we do not include the display panels to hand your artwork on.

Gallery / Consignment / Vendor level – If you are a gallery or consignment shop, you may only sell original works. Wholesale manufactured items are not allowed. This was re-added 04/16/2008.

General Rules and Disclaimers:

1. All tables, displays, etc must look neat and professional. We will take into account your type of artwork, style, etc. You also agree to any reasonable requests the Exposed Staff makes ….. especially if it involves consumer safety at the site.

2. If you have items (containers, etc) that you need to keep in or near your display area, they need to be safely concealed in your tent area (for example, underneath a skirted table).

3. You understand that exposed is an outdoor event and that SSW does not control the weather. You need to be prepared for quickly progressing bad weather. The SSW Exposed Staff watches forecasts, satellite, and doppler continually during the event, and also usually has a NOAA Skywarn Spotter on site. We will do our best to advise in advance of bad weather. We provide weights for tents however – additional weights can be provided by artists to increase your level of comfort in the case of windy conditions. Please plan for wind when designing your displays.

4. You understand that you must have your set-up opened 30 minutes prior to the event start time every day, and you understand that it must remain opened until the end of the event day, unless instructed otherwise by the Exposed Staff. You agree to a fine of $50 per day if you do not comply.

5. If you cannot man your tent personally at all times, you may designate another to help you, but the Exposed Staff must be informed at least a week prior. We will request a name, address, and possibly a picture of that person for security reasons. We do advise you that consumers of these events expect the creator of the artwork to be at the event …. you not being there can affect your sales levels.

6. You understand, that if you are under 18, you must have parental approval and parental representation at the event at all times.

7. You understand that if any artwork is left at the event site after the event close it automatically becomes the property of The Soffer Organization and SouthSide Works. We do understand emergencies happen ….. if that is the case, please inform us ASAP after the event.

8. You are responsible for your sales tax reporting.
